Where I'm From

I am from Barbie,

 From band-aids and Happy Meals,

I am from the crayons I swallowed,

Waxy and greasy,

But just for the bragging rights.

I am from the MASH and the Mancala,

The Rohihi and the Kusamalamapudi,

Names I like being called,

Because they make me feel special.

I am from Minnie and Melanie,

From Molly the pooch,

And Billy the fish.

I am from “sock-ice-skating”,

And tennis classes in Jupiter,

From sliding down the stairs,

 and failed cartwheels.

I am from best friends’ “Miss you” s,

From eeni-meenie-minie-mo,

And Edgar Allen Poe.

I am from American cheese and “What-err”,

From Gobbleoglum and yo-mama jokes,

From cold steps in the creepy attic,

To swimming in the rain.

In my heart is a treasure chest,

Brimming with moments and memoirs,

A mix of magical memories,

that lay the path for my future.

I am from the little seeds of my past,

 sprouting from the soil,

but blooming in the breeze.
